
Community Futures Mission: The Big Picture
Established in 1986, the Community Futures network consists of 34 Community
Futures Development Corporations and a provincial association with offices
located throughout British Columbia. As a key player in the economic viability
in rural communities, we provide a variety of community economic development
initiatives and entrepreneurial programs, including: business counseling,
loan programs and business information to communities.
Our Mission is to work with the existing business community to increase their capacity, to harness the untapped entrepreneurial potential in the Peace Liard Region, and to facilitate the development of a diversified and self-reliant economy for the benefit of all stakeholders in the region.

Our Track Record of Success:
• Managed initiatives funded by all levels of government and industry
• Delivered the high impact $50 million province-wide Softwood Industry
Community Adjustment Initiative (SICEAI)
• Last year the BC Community Futures network:
o Created or maintained 4,559 jobs as a result of loan fund activity
o Advanced 606 loans totaling $31 million while leveraging an additional
$53 million
o Initiated 1368 community economic development, leadership and/or community
planning projects.
