Sorry to See Doug Leave
Doug Patterson was recognized by the CFDC PL Board of Directors for volunteering as a board member for CFDC Peace Liard for 21 years. Due to time commitments, Doug had to resign as an active board member. Doug‘s contributions have been many to CFDC and he still brings his wisdom to our loans committee as chairperson.
Volunteer of the Year
Community Futures Development Association Recognizes Local CFDC Peace Liard Director Harvey Glasier Volunteer of the Year.
Community Futures is governed by volunteers throughout the nation. There are presently 16 volunteers who dedicate their time to CFDC Peace Liard.
Harvey Glasier was awarded Volunteer of the Year for 2007 by his peers in the Community Futures Network. Harvey could not make the event in Chemainous last fall so John Kurjata, Vice Chair of CFDC PL presented this award to Harvey at the Small Business Week Celebrations that were held at the Best Western in Dawson Creek.
Harvey graduated with a Degree in Agriculture from the University of Alberta in 1969 and married Barbara in November of the same year. They have one married daughter, one married son and 2 twin grandsons, aged 3.
Harvey’s wisdom in business has evolved through his employment with Farm Credit Corporation, the Small Farm Development Program and Alberta Agriculture.
Harvey returned to the University of Alberta and graduated with a Masters
Degree in Business Administration in 1994 at the ripe age of 50.
Harvey joined as a director on the volunteer board of Community Futures
in 2001, Since 2001 Harvey has been a director for CFDC, rep on the board
of Directors for Northern Exposure Gift Company, on the loans committee
from 2001 to the present and has served as chairperson from June 2004 to
2007.
In Harvey’s capacity as chairman he was very committed to ensuring systems were in place so that CFDC Peace Liard was providing the best guidance and service to its clients as well as being accountable to its funding partners. Harvey is very dedicated to his role on the loans committee in providing sound advice to clients through his years of experience. He is very conscientious in reviewing loans, not only for risk management with CFDC but because he genuinely cares about the client and doesn't want to see them get into trouble financially.
Harvey’s steady guidance and dedication has made CFDC Peace Liard a stronger organization that all our staff and directors can be proud of.
Harvey is very deserving of this award and we are very pleased to be able to honour him in this way.
